THE IDEAL DOCTOR

Who is the ideal "doctor"?

  • He/she cares and shows that he cares.
  • He/she is concerned about identifying causes (and removing them) rather than chasing symptoms (and suppressing them).
  • He/she knows that the true healer is YOU - and tells you so.
  • He/she empowers you to take responsibility for your own health.
  • He/she explains, teaches, guides and demonstrates.
  • He/she encourages the patient to study and learn, so that there is less and less dependence on any external source for healthcare.
  • He/she keeps up with the rapid expansion of knowledge by attending professional seminars and workshops.

How to be an ideal patient:

  • Be eager to read and learn; participate in courses and seminars offered by the doctor. (If "doctor" means teacher, then "patient" should be student!!)
  • Be willing to take responsibility for your health habits and make lifestyle, dietary and attitudinal modifications that are recommended by the practitioner.
  • During the period of therapy, communicate periodically with the practitioner (a weekly telephone call is ideal) to report progress, clarify issues and/or ask any questions that may have arisen. It is important (and respectful of the practitioner's time) to have your therapeutic program in hand you when you make the call, to have writing instruments ready - so you can jot down any information given, and to politely ask at the beginning of the conversation: "is it appropriate now to take two minutes of your time?"
  • After you regained your health and no longer need the doctor, keep in touch once a year to say: "all is well" or "Happy New Year" - or both!

When lines of communication between doctor and patient are open and viable, there is a greater assurance of success.

The ideal doctor is humble. He (or she) knows that all healing is from within, so the doctor serves as facilitator, coach and mentor. The true healer (and the only one!) is inside (i.e. - the patient himself!)   Actually, "doctor" (from the Latin "Docere") means "teacher".

In ancient China, the ideal doctor was the one who was able to teach a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent diseases. Doctors got paid when they were successful (in keeping their patrons healthy) - not when the patients got sick (which was considered a sign of failure!)

The Chinese classified 3 approaches to disease and health:

1. LOW MEDICINE - for symptom relief
2. MEDIUM MEDICINE - for identifying and eliminating the causes of dis-ease.
3. HIGH MEDICINE - for imparting knowledge that will make the other two unnecessary.

So the doctor-teacher was held in highest regard.

The ideal doctor in the modern era skillfully combines the three aspects:   He (or she)
    *  identifies causes of dis-ease and eliminates them
    *  provides non-toxic, non-invasive methods of pain relief
    *  teaches the patient to be self reliant so he should not need the doctor
any more(so the ideal doctor works  to virtually "put himself out of business").

(so the ideal doctor works to virtually "put himself out of business")

This is accomplished through teaching protective nutrition and lifestyle, as well as non-invasive tools for coping - in case of stress or emergency.

In order to provide the highest-quality professional service for his or her patients, every conscientious Holistic practitioner is always keeping abreast of the latest research in fields relating to health (such as Nutrition, Biochemistry, Herbology, Microbiology, Homeopathy and the Energy sciences), is following new development and is always on the lookout for the most effective products available on the market. Obviously, both the practitioner's prestige and personal satisfaction depend upon his (or her) clinical results.

The ideal doctor is humble. He respects the patient as "the carrier of knowledge" - so he does not impose his "diagnosis" or conclusion upon the patient, but rather asks the body (the patient's Subconscious, which is imbedded in every cell) to reveal the CAUSES of disease and the most suitable modalities to eliminate them, at every layer. This is the best way to eliminate errors.

LET THE BODY SPEAK is the key to success.
